It raises the further question of what "nature" is, especially in the context of language. Especially since the dawn of Romanticism, nature has become a central preoccupation of poets. Lovejoy pointed out, "nature" as a term is used by critics and poets alike until after the mid-eighteenth century to refer to two main areas: the human mind and the natural world.
