These patients suffered from MRIverified lumbar nerve root compression symptoms where surgical intervention was not indicated. Further therapy, except oral PRN medication, was not permitted during the follow-up period. The treatment effect was recorded using a standardized clinical examination and questionnaires (SF-36, SES, VAS, Oswestry Score, pain diary). The effectiveness of therapy was assessed over the entire examination period by means of general linear models. All groups demonstrated a significant improvement in their symptoms.
